I have been it the creative Media business for over 30 years, Started out shooting video then moved into photography. I love photography and taking photos it is a way of life for me.

After over 27 years being in business shooting photography and extending that to over 30 years with video production, Ed is finally semi-retiring from shooting full-time.
This is our last year in business as a photographer shooting full-time in 2025. We are already winding things down and changing things over to the new content creation model we are moving into. Instead of going into full retirement, I cannot see sitting around doing nothing. I will be semi-retired and creating content for YouTube videos and online. Using the wealth of knowledge I have from running a photography business, dealing with customers, creating websites, shooting video, and more.
Our YouTube channel will focus on camera and lens reviews, including cell phones and mini cameras that are used for content creation. Also information on AI and how it pertains to photo and video and content creation.

Our YouTube channel is called EdZone Digital Media. I encourage you to go to our channel and subscribe so you can stay up to date on new videos that we post.

Some Sample Cell Phone Shot Photos

As photography and videography is evolving, one of the greatest things that have come out for both photo and video is the newer cell phones.

We are at the point now where cell phones for photography are so good most people can't tell the difference between a cell phone shot image and a professional shot camera image especially out in good light.

Here's a few sample images shot with two different cell phones. Some are from the new iPhone 17 Pro Max and some are from the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra has a 1 inch cell phone sensor chip. So it's actually quite good even in lower light. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra, because of the Leica lenses that it uses, also produce very good background blur Much better than the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Both cell phones can also shoot in a RAW format.

For video, both of them can shoot in a log format and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra with its 1-inch sensor chip is much cleaner in lower light. But the iPhone 17 Pro Max has the new Apple Log 2 setting and can even shoot in Apple ProRes RAW And open gate.

Currently it seems that the Blackmagic Camera App is not available for the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which is unfortunate. But it can be used with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, allowing you to have more flexibility and use more advanced settings. You can see some of our YouTube videos where I have been testing out and shooting with the iPhone 17 Pro Max and using the Blackmagic camera app and shooting in the Apple Log 2 setting and editing in DaVinci Resolve.

Being a content creator for YouTube videos, TikTok, Instagram, and so on, you don't really need expensive, heavy, high-end cameras anymore. Cell phones and other cameras like the DJI Pocket 3 and other action cameras are very capable nowadays of covering everything you need. Or a small APS-C camera like the Sony a6700.

For us, gone are the days of carrying around heavy, expensive gear on a trip to make a travel video or a how to or information video or shooting photography. We will be exclusively using cell phones, the Pocket 3, an action camera, and soon we'll be adding a drone into our arsenal of video and photography tools.
In studio we will still use the Sony a6700. I have mounted on a tripod in front of our desk with a Sigma 1.4 lens mounted on it. And a second Sony a6700 for when out shooting photography when we need the extra zoom range and faster focus like for shooting sports and wildlife. And to use some great lenses for background blur and bokeh at times. So full frame, expensive cameras and lenses will be a thing of the past for us.

Nowadays you don't need large megapixel cameras for anything. If you need the image to be much larger, there are many AI programs out there that will enhance your image to any size you need, much larger than even high megapixel cameras will provide, without the need to buy the high megapixel cameras and expensive lenses. At some point I will make a video demonstrating this how we can take a 6 megapixel camera image that I shot years ago on a Nikon D100 6mp camera and upsize it to over 50 megapixels in size with no real image loss that could be printed for any type of use. And this can be done in just a few seconds.

And a few other point and shoots.

Edward Morgan has owned a lot of cameras and gear over the years including many different flash systems.

From shooting video to photography My equipment has evolved over time from different brands, different lenses, different computers, and more.

For a long time I was a Windows computer user, but then quite a few years back. I switched everything over to Mac, which I find quite easier to use now because I can share files so much easier between my different systems. It did take a little while to get used to the different way things work, but now we are fully Mac with our cell phones, computers, laptops and iPad.

For editing photos I have a wide mixture of programs. From Lightroom to Capture One to DxO PhotoLab  and Lumineer Neo. But back when Apple bought out Pixelmator Pro and Photomator, I purchased both of the programs because now I get free updates.

So now I'm doing all my raw editing in Photomator. It was originally designed for Mac, so it's actually faster than any of the other programs, and does basically everything that Lightroom or Capture One and other programs do, but faster, and has some features the other programs don't even have. And then the Pixelmator Pro program is like a version of Photoshop Not quite as full-featured, but has everything I need that I would do to any extra photos.
I also use a program called Logolst 5 quite a bit for making my YouTube thumbnails and other graphics.

For video editing, I purchased DaVinci Resolve quite a long time ago and have been using it for many years now. And they have provided free updates, taking it into being a fantastic video editing program.

For music, at one point I was starting to create all my own background music for my YouTube videos in Apple's Logic Pro. But now I pay for a subscription for Suno and I'm able to make massive amounts of background music in any type of feel or style that I want. I can even have it write songs and sing lyrics about whatever the topic of my video is.
